Summer And Music is here!!!! Well…kinda… Its been a slow start to the summer season with the weather being unpredictable, but there has been lots of music going on in Long Beach. LBPP had a chance to check out the kick off to the 2nd Annual SAM: Summer And Music festival, “Future Legends”.

As we arrived there was the familiar emptiness of the 2nd Saturday Art Walk to greet us, although compared to a usual 2nd Saturday there seemed to be more booths. I head toward the music, leaving Rajh behind conversing with some local artists, and as I round the corner on to Broadway I see a sparse gathering at the end of the block. The crowd must not have been more then 100 for one of Long Beach’s “Future Legends”, Boris Smile. While they are a great band and put on a great show, the lack of organization and promotion for the kick-off event was VERY evident.

You would have thought that having a great event like Future Legends on the same day as 2nd Saturday Art Walk was a winning combo, but even though they were just around the block, it was like no one even bothered to coordinate with each other. All is not lost though! Like every show there are rocky starts, and the show always rocks on! So, if you are in the mood for some free music head down to Broadway & Pine ave in Downtown Long Beach for Rockabilly on Pine. The all ages free show starts TONIGHT at 5pm and features James Intveld and opening band Miguel Garcia & the Vaquetones.
