As far back as I can remember I have seen Chris Paul Overall rocking the Long Beach music scene in one band or another. From his previous bands like OC based Wonderlove to collaborations with fellow Long Beach singer/songwriter AJ DeGrasse, the talented combination of The Dibs and cover band CPO & The Saps playing tons of popular local events, music keeps this guy in the local spotlight 24/7.

Having consistent shows with multiple projects in Long Beach its crazy how hard Chris works on his music and his latest solo offering “Primer” is no exception. His 6-track EP of great pop/rock tunes was just released for digital download on Bandcamp last week, with hard copies available sometime this month. All 6 tracks are solid, vocally driven, pop rock with great instrumentation and catchy hooks that showcase Chris’ diversity within the genre. My favorite by far is “Colombian Skin” which is a softer track in comparison with the other 5 but has such compelling lyrics and delivery.

Another track that stands out to me is “Next Time I’ll Remember (Not To Forget)”, again very vocally driven with catchy piano work on the intro and bridge parts in particular. The last track Sherri also has some great dynamic piano work that accompanies Chris’ lyrics and emotion perfectly. All and all this is another solid offering from CPO and at just under $6 bucks for the download its worth picking up and supporting your local music scene.
