As summer creeps in with warmer and sunnier days the swath of summertime music festivals around SoCal all vie for your attendance. In Long Beach this typically means one of our favorites, Summer And Music, is on its way, but we still have not heard much yet. Not to be disappointed the organizers behind the Long Beach Funk Festival decided to get started early this year with a little dose of Funk to start your summer off right.

This Saturday, May 26th the Queen Mary will be host to “GrooveFest” set along the beautiful Queen Mary Seawalk. The festival features some great local bands including one of our favorite locals OO Soul along with Breakestra, Boogaloo Assassins, and The Original Stone City Band.

5:30 – OO Soul
7:00 – Jungle Fire
8:30 – Boogaloo Assassins
10:00 – Original Stone City Band

There will also be select food trucks on site to keep you fed while you funk out. Tickets start at $25, $35 at the door, and $85, $100 at the door,  for VIP which includes private event entrance, a meet and greet opportunity with the artists, five drink tickets, an event poster, a return ticket to the Queen Mary good through Jan. 31, 2012 and complimentary event parking. If the price tag seems a little steep use the discount code “GROOVE” to get a 2-for-1 special OR if you are rolling solo use discount code “OOSOUL” to get 50% off!
