one_high_fiveSince forming the current line up in 2011, One High Five has achieved many notable accomplishments for an unsigned band. This includes self-booked showcases in China, as well as U.S. tours, which included the annual College Music Journal Festival in New York. In addition, each song from their debut EP “Here, Hear!” has been placed in either commercials or films.

While singer/songwriter David Sauer cites everything from ABBA to Zappa as inspiration, One High Five’s retro-rock stylings evoke comparisons to Green Day, Weezer, Brian Wilson, and Reel Big Fish. Lyrics are dedicated to the human spirit with themes of exploration, perseverance, and personal challenge, all delivered through Sauer’s wit and sarcastic humor.

The musicians in One High Five are bound together by their love of the rock ‘n roll lifestyle and desire to give their fans a good time. Typical shows include balloons and lights, with on-stage giveaways, in order to give audiences what has been described as “a party on the stage.”

The band was formed after Sauer worked with producer Jim Roach (Jesse Thomas, The Young Romans) to create, “Hear, Hear!” The session was “cathartic and long overdue,” says Sauer, who revealed that most his songs are written in his mind by looping sections and adding new layers and rhythms. “Working with [Roach] was like being in a musical playground. Basically, we ran around with our instruments thrashing over our heads with the ‘record’ button on. I couldn’t have been happier.”

One High Five is David Sauer (vocals/guitar), Mark Sakamoto (guitar/vocals), Jazz Limbo (bass/vocals) and Tomi Choi (drums). This strong line up is ready for their greatest rock ‘n roll adventures yet.
