Records have survived the test of time for many reasons; their durability, their unique sound, and of course the warm fuzzy feeling that comes with a sprawling record collection. The original recording format keeps picking up momentum thanks to the fans that keep supporting and of course the handful of record stores that are still in business. This is where “Record Store Day” comes in…

Created in 2007 to support the independent record store, Record Store Day is April 20th and is now celebrated globally with hundreds of recording and other artists participating in the day by making special appearances, performances, meet and greets with their fans, the holding of art exhibits, and the issuing of special and CD releases along with other promotional products to mark the occasion.

Long Beach loves records and is home to a few really great independent record stores, so if you are looking for a place to celebrate places like Fingerprints Music, Dyzzy On Vynyl, and Durty Mick Records all have special deals the day of as well as a host of performances that will satisfy any music fan. Fingerprints even had so many great deals and shows planned that one day wasn’t enough so they are offering deals and planning killer shows all month long!
