Summer is the season for music events and Long Beach doesn’t wait for national touring festivals to come to the city, the locals create their own. With events that span the gamut in music genres, bringing promises of a day (or days) of live music, art, non-music performances, DJs, food, vendor booths, seminars, presentations, etc. that are either family friendly or strictly for the 18+ or 21+ crowd, a weekend doesn’t go by in the summer where there isn’t something going on…

And, this weekend’s Louder Than Long Beach is no exception! Or, maybe it is the exception!?!?! Hmmmm… All I have to say is it is going to be different and when I say “different”, I mean AWESOME!!!! As with any Summer Saturday in Long Beach, the sun will be shining and the music will be playing for the masses, all because of the homegrown efforts of a handful of Long Beach locals that decided to pave the way to create Louder Than Long Beach, an art and music festival made possible with the support of the Cultural Alliance of Long Beach.

Now, are you ready for some super great news? Louder Than Long Beach is completely FREE to the public and open to ALL ages. The “Jack of all trades”, the “man behind the curtain” (if you will), is none other than Bob Bly Moore of Sterile Jets and he gives credit where credit is due, as he has had a lot of creative input from his bandmates Bill Partnoff and Matt Bean, as well as support from friends and fellow Long Beach musicians that are proudly taking the stage to share their love of music with the community that they call home.

What could possibly be “louder than long beach” that would inspire such a name for an art and music festival? Well, that is simple really, like any catchy chorus in a song or an unusual riff that stands out above all else, it just came naturally via Bill. The event name was just rattling around in his brain long before the idea of putting on an event was even considered and, like any good musician, he kept it stored away just waiting for the opportune time to let it loose into the wild…the wilds of Long Beach, that is!

When asked if there was something that Bob wanted to say to the city of Long Beach, he was humble and simply said what came straight from his heart, “We created the event because we want a place to connect the public with local artists and musicians, come out and support the local arts scene… Let’s build something together!”. I couldn’t have said it better myself, because if there is one thing that I have learned in Long Beach, it is that the music scene is not only accepting of everyone, but they are there to support each other and provide opportunities & possibilities for all to pursue their music dreams.

So, put your Netflix marathon on hold, bring out your family/partner/friends/kids or fly solo and head on down to the Bungalow Building on Pine to experience a little bit of Long Beach local music and art culture that you will never forget. I can guarantee this won’t be the last you see or hear of Louder Than Long Beach, but don’t you want to be able to say you were there FIRST????
