Originally from San Francisco, local artist Gregg Young has had an extensive musical career beginning in his teens when he landed a major label-recording contract with his first funk-fusion band, Womb. While touring, Gregg played shows that included such acts as Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Steve Miller, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Linda Ronstadt, Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly, Eric Burden, War, Jose Feliciano and others. Gregg has had the privilege of having guitar great Carlos Santana as a friend and mentor, and learned a great deal while playing with Bo Diddley and Sly Stone.
Aside from being owner and founder of Shore Records in Long Beach, Gregg is currently the lead guitarist in Gregg Young and the 2nd Street Band. The band is revered as one of the hottest Jazz bands in the Los Angeles area, has been packing concert halls since the early 1990’s. Gregg Young and the 2nd The Dome Arclight Entertainment Center, Hollywood. Their show is a Classic American Music Celebration encompassing Jazz, Blues, Swing, Reggae and Latin Jazz.
Gregg Young and the 2nd Street Band have previously been considered in the 44th , and 51st Grammy Awards. Gregg has won numerous awards including Unanimous Choice, Smooth Jazz Artist of the Year – LA Music Awards, Best of Jazz Nominee – Hollywood Music Awards, Best Blues – Hollywood Music in Media Awards, Best Funk/ Groove – Hollywood Music in Media Awards, Best of Latin Nominee – Hollywood Music in Media Awards, Best of Pop Nominee – Hollywood Music in Media Awards and Best of Jazz Nominee – Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
