New Year’s Eve is one of those nights where there is so much going on that you almost have to wait till the last minute to know what you are doing. That wasn’t the case for LBI last year and if this years Downtown Long Beach NYE celebration is anything like last years you know where you will find us once again! Following last year’s record-breaking New Year’s Eve (NYE) celebration, when 13,500 people descended upon DTLB to ring in the new year, the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) will continue to host the largest party in town as it welcomes a plethora of SoCal’s finest musicians to take part in a three-stage, three-block festival in the heart of Downtown located on Pine Avenue between 1st and 4th Streets.

Headlining this year will be Saint Motel, ZZ Ward, Houndmouth, and Vintage Trouble, each bringing guests to perform throughout the evening. Those guests include a special DJ set fromOK Go’s Dan Konopka and Tim Nordwind’s project Xia Xia Technique, FMLYBND, Miles Tackett & The 3 Times, and DJ Sovern-T. The festivities will kick off at 8PM on Thursday, December 31 and culminate with a midnight countdown, followed by celebration and dancing until 2AM. Pre-sale tickets for the concert-style street party go on sale Friday, October 16 at 10AM for $30 at www.downtownlongbeach.org. Tickets will be available at the gate on the day of the event for $40.

ZZ Ward, the Angeleno musician who rocked the alt charts with her first single “Put Down the Gun” featuring her Amy Winehouse-like tinged vocals, has garnered a respected name within the music industry after working with Kendrick Lamar, touring with Eric Clapton, and wowing crowds at both Coachella and Bonnaroo.

Vintage Trouble, the retro R&B outfit that sounds like Chuck Berry had kids with The Animals, also hails from Los Angeles and brings with an energy that made them the standouts of the Glastonbury Festival.

Whether you call them “dream pop” or “indie prog,” Los Angeles-based Saint Motel is quickly becoming a rock staple after their main stage performances at this year’s Coachella festival as “My Type” became a Top 10 alt hit in the States.

Houndmouth, the Louisville folk rock ensemble that brings a roots-y, psychedelic, country charm to their sound that has made them critical darlings and favorites at 2013’s Lollapalooza.

DTLB’s New Year’s Eve Celebration will take place on Thursday, December 31 on Pine Avenue between 1st and 4th Streets. For more information, visit www.downtownlongbeach.org
